Legend of the Jersey Devil

jersey devil pvu.png

Deep in the heavily forested Pine Barrens region of New Jersey, legends are told of a strange and terrifying creature. Allegedly, a woman known as Mother Leeds was pregnant in 1735 with her 13th baby. Clearly having had enough, she boldly hexed the unborn fetus by wishing that Satan himself would take the child from her. As a result, the baby was born looking like a monster with wings, hooves, forked tail, and horse-like head. After birth, this newborn flew from the house and has reportedly been seen lurking throughout the state since. Virtually all eyewitnesses and believers fear this creature. It’s been blamed for killing livestock and other animals. Creepy screeches are constantly heard ringing throughout the forest. So what’s really going on in the Garden State? Did some ancient housewife really curse her child? Is it merely an undiscovered species?
