Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky first opened in 1910 to attempt to lessen the tuberculosis outbreak that spread in the early 20th century, but circumstances ended up going in the wrong direction. An enormous facility that saw over 63,000 deaths became more known for harsh treatments and sheer brutality than a place of healing. After closing in the 1960s, thanks to advances in medical technology, the building quickly grew a whole new reputation. Even today, Waverly Hills is a favorite and dream location for paranormal investigators. After sitting abandoned for some time, it was purchased and has grown to become famous for its hauntings throughout the facility. It’s said that a nurse once hung herself in suicide inside the door of room 502. The children’s ward on the same floor is said to be occupied by the ghost of young boy named Timmy, who loves playing with toys. Beneath the facade, a subterranean tunnel that previously allowed staff to covertly carry out bodies of those who passed away in the hospital now sees and hears its fair share of unexplained disembodied noises and apparitions. Personally, I’ve never been there, it’s a place I have wanted to explore for quite a while. Did you ever have any strange experiences there that are worth sharing?
