Wild About Wendigo

Many legends stem from Native American lore and seem to be way beyond our wildest dreams. Some seem too outlandish to be true, especially when they involve an actual human transforming into said creature. It seems like a tough way to pass down a lesson to our young on how to act. One particular cryptid born from these stories is Wendigo. These creatures originated from Algonquin customs and tales passed down to warn us about mistreating other people. According to legend, humanity as a whole must learn to cohabitate peacefully. In its animal form, Wendigo looks like a frightening combination of a humanoid being with deer-like antlers and loose flesh casually hanging over skeletal bones. The entity is extremely malevolent and only wishes to do malice to its victims. Supposedly, they live to devour anyone and anything that crosses its path. Cannibalism is a real favorite of the Wendigo. Once a person becomes this hideous being, they develop an unsatiable appetite for human flesh, and its only kryptonite is fire. Harsh conditions in the environment and atmosphere can lead many normal people to do evil things. Pop culture has even picked up on the acclaim of this creature. So what’s the verdict? Is the Wendigo fact or fiction?
