Clown Motel is a popular lodging amenity in the small town of Tonopah, Nevada. In 1911, a major fire broke out nearby and tragically killed a number of the local miners working there. Just a couple hours’ drive from Las Vegas and not too far from the notorious Area 51 location, Tonopah played a major role in the silver mining field, with discoveries in most hills surrounding the city. Immediately adjacent to the motel is a large cemetery where many victims of the Belmont Mine inferno are buried. Having a graveyard close by is often seen as a sure omen of doom, and this location is no exception. The hotel is the brainchild of 2 siblings who established it in 1985 in tribute to their late father, who happened to collect clown figures and figurines. The vast majority of his collection remains on display throughout the property today, along with others brought by clientele and fans of the genre. Paranormal enthusiasts and experts are well-aware that its close proximity to mass graves likely means the property could be haunted, but who lurks there? The primary culprit is widely believed to be a 7-foot-tall menacing-looking clown as well as other mysterious figures of spectral adults and even children. In 2015, Zak Bagans and crew filmed on-site and captured a dark shadow of a person lingering on the grounds and movement by various dolls situated there. The ghost of a prankster is often seen, heard, and felt in room 108. Being located in a remote town in the Nevada desert makes this motel not as well-known as other similar locations, but many fans of the paranormal know of it well. Rarely does it happen that guests and/or staff does not experience something they cannot explain. So what do you think? Does the cemetery/historic blaze play a role, or is it all just a clever marketing ploy?
