Native American tribes and people have long believed that there once were enormous bird-like creatures that hovered in the skies above. They were seen as very powerful entities that could literally be like gods and control most aspects of the environment well beyond the reach of humans. They believed that an animal existed called Thunderbird that was able to change the weather and bring on storms and atmospheric phenomena just by flapping their wings. Other tribes felt like these creatures were protectors of the land and area. Far to the north, we often see totem poles with a bird of prey sitting on top. These birds represent just how omniscient the animals really were. Other carvings, cave drawings, and etchings have been discovered all over the world as a permanent reminder that such animals have always been so revered. However, it’s quite possible that these massive avian beings could still be around today in some form. What we now call eagles, condors, hawks, and owls could be modern descendants of the mighty Thunderbird. Sightings are frequently reported globally and could easily explain other mysteries, such as Mothman. Granted the all-powerful status of certain animals does seem mythical in nature, but giant birds clearly still live among us today, so why is it so far-fetched to think that there could be at least some truth to the legend?
Could a legendary avian still be flying today?

Very interesting to think descendants are still around. there are certainly some huge birds!
