Haunted Crescent Hotel & Spa

Crescent Hotel & Spa in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, was built in 1886. Right out of the gate, wealthy people used it as an extravagant limestone resort destination. From there, it became an all-female college, before Norman Baker opened it as a cancer hospital. Unfortunately, he was not a real doctor, and the cancer center was actually a complete fraud. Baker claimed to have the ultimate cure for cancer, and scores of desperate people forked over their life savings, but it was all for naught. The facility is now known as one of the most haunted hotels in America, and for good reason. Paranormal investigators and enthusiasts flock there to the restored Victorian architecture. Virtually everyone who went there hoping to be cured from illness died, and plenty of hostile spirits are said to remain. Michael died in the 1880s while construction was underway, and he haunts room 218 as a poltergeist who bangs on walls and switches lights on and off. Theodora was one of Norman Baker’s “patients”, and she’s often felt and seen in room 419. There are even reports of a spectral cat that was put to sleep in 1994 there. I, for one, have never been there, but it’s really quite an intriguing location. Despite being in a somewhat remote area, this hotel packs a huge punch for anyone interested in going there. The story behind how it came to be clearly sets the right tone and mood for many hauntings. Have you ever been there?
