Haunted Hollywood

Hollywood, California is a town long associated with television and movies. It’s clearly the entertainment capital of the world. However, all that fame and glory have left a darker legacy throughout recent history. It’s also full of tragedy and death, making the region also known to be very haunted. Ghosts of celebrities are spotted lurking in the dark of night just as much as those alive during the day. The logo of the city is its famous mountaintop sign of letters spelling out its name. Did you know that the name previously lost 4 letters? The true name was originally “Hollywoodland”, but the rest were damaged and lost to history. Just like other paranormal hotspots, the region of Los Angeles has a number of ghostly sights and sounds.

Roosevelt Hotel is arguably the premier paranormal location, with its countless celebrities who’ve stayed there during their careers. Even Marilyn Monroe is forever linked with a mirror that used to be in her old room but now sits in the lobby. Many reports of people seeing her facial image in the mirror have come out.  Late actor Montgomery Clift stayed in room 928, and late-night calls come in to complain about musical instruments being heard played.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery is just 1 of many burial grounds that hold gravesites for the most elite casualties in the industry. Spectral phantoms are constantly seen and heard.

Viper Room is a well-known nightclub that was previously owned by actor Johnny Depp and has become an eerie hub of activity, dating back to the tragic death of River Phoenix.

TCL Chinese Theatre has seen its fair share of hauntings throughout the facility. Most people are more familiar with the Beverly Hills building’s former name, Grauman’s.

Knickerbocker Hotel (now apartments) is very close to Roosevelt Hotel and even rivals its biggest competitor in the paranormal field. Various celebrities of old are reportedly seen and experienced there, from William Frawley to Rudolph Valentino to even Harry Houdini.

Hollywood Walk of Fame sits just steps from the Chinese Theatre. This popular outdoor sidewalk attraction gives people today the chance to literally rub hands and feet with those who’ve departed. But it’s also known to be haunted by the very spirits of those who left their mark there.
