Manresa Castle is a Victorian building that currently operates as a hotel near Seattle, in the town of Port Townsend. The building first opened in 1892 as the private home of Charles Eisenbeis, who was the city’s first mayor as well as a successful businessman. However, from the outset, the edifice was always supposed to become a hotel. After the initial plan fell through, it became the Prussian-born mogul’s domain. The magnificent architecture represents an authentic European castle. Also having served as a Jesuit school, this location is ripe with lots of paranormal activity because of so many suicides that legends report that took place there. It’s well-known as one of the most haunted places in all of Washington. According to local lore, a woman named Kate was said to have jumped out her 3rd story window in despair after learning that her beloved had died at sea. Even darker, the attic is known to be where a Jesuit priest hung himself and still may lurk today. Inside the hotel, guests often report doors opening and closing by themselves, along with disembodied laughter from phantom children; the sounds of footsteps following them; lights and electronics functioning on their own; and just a general feeling of heaviness in multiple areas. The hotel is a popular travel destination, due to its somewhat isolated location and a wealth of paranormal activity, including physical attacks. While it may not be the most famous location, it’s still well-known among the paranormal community and for good reason. Legends are plenty and it remains an inviting place for all walks of life.
