The desert is a dry and barren land where seemingly very little can survive. However, in Mongolia, it’s possible that a strange creature lurks just below the surface. The alleged Death Worm is said to be a 1-meter-long reddish slithering worm-like animal but not like any known similar species on Earth already. It’s believed that this particular cryptid is highly lethal to anyone or anything that crosses its path. Anyone or anything getting too close for comfort could be done off with almost immediately simply due to a yellow corrosive acid that the animal is thought to emit as a warning sign to back off. It also may shock its prey electronically, similar to an eel.
Known by the genus olgoi-khorkhoi, an author named Roy Chapman Andrews has been credited with bringing the beast to the attention of Western civilization in the mid-1920s in his book On the Trail of Ancient Man about mythical monster that terrorizes the people of the region. Other possible explanations are other similar and potentially venomous snakes and worms that do exist, such as Tartar Sand Boa or even earthworms. Legend points to this creature being nothing more than a figment of imagination and folklore. What do you think?
