Tombstone, Arizona was established in 1877 by a prospector named Ed Schieffelin, despite warnings that it would be his downfall. Formerly called Goose Flats, he came up with the rather ironic name because of what he was told about it being too dangerous to settle. After the discovery of silver to be extensively mined in the area, the small town became a pioneer’s dream destination. Since this was the era of the Wild West, violence and crime ran wild in its many bars and saloons. Sharpshooters had flocked to the dens of inequity hoping to strike it rich at whatever cost was necessary. Gambling addictions led to multiple deaths and even homicides. The remnants of its 2 most famous locations remain today in this abandoned desert oasis. Bird Cage Theatre was basically the equivalent of the biggest casinos and brothels on the Las Vegas Strip. So much action occurred there that it’s no wonder it’s now considered to be extremely haunted by a number of spirits. In addition, O.K. Corral was the site of Wyatt Earp’s notorious shootout in 1881 and remains a hotbed of ghostly sights and sounds to this very day. Death and destruction were all the rage in those days, leading to a darkness that still permeates in mysterious forms.
