In 1966-1967, the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, West Virginia collapsed during a busy Friday afternoon when rush hour traffic overloaded the road. On that same day, it was reported that a mysterious winged humanoid creature was seen hovering overhead. Ever since, that small town has lived in panic over its possible intruder. The creature is still believed to possibly exist today, and locals are terrified. An abandoned TNT munitions bunker that sits in a marshy forested area is thought to be the cryptid’s domain. Long doubling as a “Lover’s Lane”, many people are hesitant to enter the area. Mothman is believed to be roughly the height of a grown man, if not a little bit taller, with glowing red eyes. The creature is so revered in the region that a statue was erected and still stands today in the center of town. But exactly what is this thing? It’s commonly seen as an omen or harbinger of doom that shows up just prior to major tragedies as a warning. Experts and witnesses are quick to rule out any known bird or bat species, due to the obvious height and size discrepancy. Recently, the humanoid animal has been reported in other parts of the Midwest, specifically downtown Chicago. So what’s really going on? Is it some type of alien or undocumented cryptid? Is it trying to tell us something, or are its appearances merely coincidence? Is it just misidentification? The jury is still out.
What’s flying over West Virginia?
