Area 51 is a place where we’re literally just beginning to scratch the surface of. Hidden out in Nevada’s Mojave Desert, this isolated strip of land is believed to border Groom Lake just a few hours’ drive from Las Vegas. The site was first established in 1955 as a super-secret space where the government and military could test its potential arsenal of new stealth vessels. Back then, the Cold War was still at the forefront, and we needed a way to keep our plans strictly under wraps. Today, it’s become more legendary for its possible links to alien crafts and technology being examined there. It wasn’t until 2013 that our top authorities even acknowledged Area 51’s true existence. But we still have no idea of the full scale of what goes on there. Nearly a decade before the location’s technical birthdate, it’s believed that recovered evidence from Roswell in 1947 was quickly transported there for various unknown purposes. It wasn’t until 1989 that former employee Bob Lazar went public on the record in confirming that aliens and strange craft were indeed being stored on-site. Today, the only way to publicly approach the surrounding area is by driving on State Route 375, appropriately nicknamed Extraterrestrial Highway. The small town of Rachel, Nevada houses a small cafe where connoisseurs and paranormal fans alike have gathered to share their stories and experiences. On foot, it is feasible to hike up certain mountain trails to get a clear glimpse of the base but still several miles away. Nobody is allowed to get within a specific radius of it, with hidden surveillance and posted signage warning of extremely serious consequences for any violators. Just outside the perimeter gates are white trucks perched atop nearby hills watching for anyone who gets too close. Unsurprisingly, Area 51 has frequently reported sightings of UFOs in the sky above. This really is 1 place where you must literally watch your back and step every second. The existence of the base was only recently fully publicized, so who knows if/when we will ever find out the truth of what happens there?
