Ancient Ram Inn sits in Gloucestershire, England and has since 1145, when it first opened for construction workers and skilled laborers responsible for St. Mary’s Church. Ever since, the building has served as a religious dwelling for priests, 1500s warehouse for the textile industry, and one of many watering holes in the region in the 19th and 20th centuries. However, it has also gained a reputation for intense paranormal activity. Under threat of demolition, wealthy Brit John Humphries purchased control of the facility in 1968, and his family continues to run it to this very day. Investigations remain underway to figure out how the site took such a dark turn. According to local lore, such as explanations for it being considered one of England’s most haunted locations include possibly sitting over the convergence of ley lines and/or being built atop a millenniums’-old Pagan cemetery. At one point in time, human bones were dug up, leading to the site being known for sacrificial rituals. Possible ghostly entities still lingering can be either benevolent or evil, even demonic. The Bishop’s Room and Witch’s Room are among the hotspots for reports of paranormal activity, along with the attic. It was believed that some women make have been burned at the stake there in post-Medieval times. Sir Humphries’ own daughter is the caretaker today, and even he reported aggressive poltergeist and apparitional activity back in the day. Investigators and experts flock there with the family’s support to have a go at trying to solve the mystery once and for all.
