Tower Of London

Tower of London was built in the year 1066 by William the Conqueror along the Thames River as a means of protection during the Norman Conquest. It was designed to be a fortress for the city and people of London, using the regime’s classic military architectural style that’s still the only remaining example of its type in modern times. With its location along a major waterway, the structure was also meant to be the perfect point of access to the surrounding area. Its prized possession is England’s Crown Jewels, which can be viewed by the general public for a fee but prohibits any photography. The first part constructed was White Tower, which is the source of the site’s name.

Having previously been the site of the gallows for public hangings and other acts of violence, it’s no surprise that this location is a paranormal hotspot. Queen Anne Boleyn could be the most famous, or infamous, ghostly presence reported there. She was King Henry VIII’s second wife, who suffered decapitation on the premises. But she is far from the only spirit believed to haunt the grounds.

After being caught in the assassination plot of King James I in the early 1600s, Guy Fawkes was also hanged there. There are even reports of the apparition of a bear in this territory.
