Haunted Gibraltar

Rock of Gibraltar sits between the southern coast of Spain and the northern tip of Africa that rises nearly 1,400 feet above the Mediterranean Sea. This limestone cliff was formed over 200 million years ago during the Jurassic era by tectonic plates between multiple continents that collided approximately 55 million years ago. Originally called Pillars of Hercules by ancient societies, “The Rock” was used for cave-dwellers to reside and hide, as well as for strategic military protection from outside invasions. Paranormal experts are well-aware that limestone can be a major contributor to mysterious activity, and this location is no exception. Hidden beneath the surface are a number of dark tunnels once dug out to keep enemies out in times of war. Its convent has housed the governor since 1728, and it’s widely believed to continue to hold a nun’s spirit now called “Lady in Grey”, who was imprisoned there and possibly executed for clandestine affairs. Various animal and human sounds are often heard emanating from within that are not so easily explained. Full body ghosts and apparitions are commonly reported by visitors to this massive area.
