Hessdalen Valley is a region of Norway that started out near the base of the Hesja River as a historical mining district but now has a completely different claim to fame. Dating as far back as the 19th century, strange lights and formations have been reported in the skies above this Arctic nation. In 1811, became one of the first official witnesses to go on the record with sightings that were widely documented by local media throughout that entire century. Many spots worldwide have been known to present similar out-of-this-world features in the night sky. Even the Aurora Borealis can be seen in this area of Scandinavia, despite sitting significantly distant below the Arctic Circle. In the late 1940s, sightings and experiences rose significantly in the aftermath of World War II. UFOs were commonly seen hovering above. Even the mayor adamantly stated that he had seen an egg-shaped vessel that supposedly crashed into a nearby lake. Even into the 1980s, the area had gone viral and ran rampant with various unexplained phenomena. Once a peaceful valley, upwards of 15-20 strange lights and orbs were being reported each week. This remote region was clearly being visited and/or targeted, but nobody was sure why. Even today, paranormal investigators flock to the valley to catch a glimpse of the Hessdalen Lights and even come back with their own sightings. The numbers have decreased since the 1980s, but not by much. Skeptics are quick to dismiss the whole idea, but still no one has solved the mystery just yet. Since there’s a fault line running below the region, there could be a natural or geological explanation for high concentrations of certain elements in the air. Other theories point to dust clouds made of plasma. Even ghost lights and aliens have been thrown in as a possible explanation. So what’s really going on in Norway?
